Heber Valley Cabin

Wow, I can't believe summer is almost gone! Only one more month! I have lots more I want to do!!

Anyways, I thought I'd keep y'all updated on what else (besides the bucket list) that I've done this summer! One of the major things my family and I did was to go to a cabin in the mountains of Heber City that my grandparents rented. It's a beautiful cabin, with 4 stories and about 7 bedrooms. We had a lot of fun playing games in the game room, riding 4-wheelers around the area, and riding the Heber Valley Railroad! It was a blast and I would like to thank my family for making it so fun! So here are some pictures!

Funny T-shirt on sale at the gift shop.

My cousin, and long time friend, Kimberly!

Old engine 618. What a blast from the past!

The owners of the cabin. Who knew farmers could have such a fancy place? ;)

Back of the cabin, "Aspen Heights."

Beautiful scenery and flowers. I could wander forever!

Amanda and I! I sure miss you! :)

Our frequent neighbor and mother (for there was a baby deer with her).

Summer Bucket List #2: White Pine Lake Hike

Another Bucket List item crossed off our list! A hike in the beautiful mountains of Utah!! :)
We wanted a good hike that we could accomplish in a shorter amount of time, so after browsing trails up by Alta Ski Resort, we chose a trail called White Pine Lake Trail. It was absolutely beautiful! The snow was still melting, causing much water to run down the sides of the mountain, the river, and the trail itself! There were many parts of the trail where we had to ford a river or climb a pile of snow. We had to stop halfway up the trail and come back because it was raining too hard and our time was almost out. It was fun! Check out the pics below. :)

Ashlyn looking off through the tress and bushes to the small stream.

One of many endless mini waterfalls up the side of the trail.

My manly figure claiming this spot of beauty. ;)

Tiny blueish-gray butterfly.

This is my island! I claim Twisted Tree Stump Island.

The river was flowing so fast! But it was so amazing!

The river and me.

It was a beautiful day! Except the parts when it rained... ;)
It was a beautiful hike and one I'd recommend! Take a water bottle and a lunch/snacks and enjoy yourself!

Summer Bucket List #1: Red Butte Gardens

Hey everyone! With summer here I'd thought I'd keep you up to date with my activities, thoughts, and marvelous adventures! To start off, I'd like to share an adventure my friends and I went on at the beginning of summer!
My friend and I have conjured up a "Summer Bucket List" of things that we want to do this summer! One of our items was to visit a flower garden where we are surrounded by flowers. So we did some research and came up with a place called Red Butte Gardens at the University of Utah! And boy, is it AMAZING! The flowers were in full bloom and utterly beautiful! With camera in hand, my friends and I set out for "Summer Bucket List #1: Red Butte Gardens."

The flowers were in full bloom EVERYWHERE and smelled so good!

There was an oak tree tunnel that was way fun to walk through!

My friend and I (bucket list conjurers).

My other friend and I (just a really good friend). ;)

The man-made structures covered in nature's beauty were breathtaking!

And that's all for Red Butte Gardens! Check out all the pictures on my Facebook page!
Bye!

Christmas and New Year!

Again I'm done with my assignments in Multimedia, so I thought I'd upload some more stuff! NOTE: Because I have no access to my pictures on my computer at home, so all of these pictures are from my cell phone.

Happy New Year!
We had some poppers in our house, so I made myself a wig of silly string stuff! We had a somewhat peaceful night spent with family. We also enjoyed some sparkling cider! Yum!

Funny Commercial
I was watching TV the other night with my mom and a Post It Super Sticky Note commercial came up. I was watching and a hilarious part came up! On the bottom of the screen that said "Just kidding." What commercial says just kidding? Haha! :)

Merry Christmas!
This is one of our Christmas ornaments on our tree. The lights were so pretty that I just had to take a picture!

This year our family put up two Christmas trees, one in the family room and a real one in the front room! It was so wonderful! The tree in the front room had white lights and held my Grandma's homemade ornaments she used to make. Then there were simple red, gold, and green balls to add some color. It was very beautiful!

Well, I wish you all a belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Time sure does fly!

Though I'm almost positive that hardly anyone reads my blog, I decided to write a little note to those who do. My life has been busy. I've been on TONS of trips and have a lot of stuff to do! Let's get started!

Marching Band 2010!

Yes, that's right. It's that time again! Time for the hard work, good tan, and tons of fun! I'm the section leader of the clarinets which means I'm in charge of their well being. Oh boy... :) We're going to be competing on 5A or Open Class this year. We'll be versing such 'big boys' as American Fork and Davis. Oh boy again... I'm looking forward to another great year! :)

Cherry Hill

Yesterday I was able to go with my cousins and family to Cherry Hill, the greatest fun spot you'll ever know! I have so many fun fun memories there and the fun keeps coming! My cousins are great and it was amazing spending more time with them! Love ya!

I am 16!!

The year has come! The year to drive and the year to date! I can't believe I'm that old already! I got my license on my birthday and it's been fun!

Jamboree Time!

On Monday I get the opportunity to go with the Great Salt Lake Council to the East Coast for a 3 week scout camp. We'll spend the first week or so touring the famous sites of Virginia, Washington D.C., New York, etc. We'll then spend another week at Fort AP Hill with TONS of other scouts. The last couple days will be more touring (Busch Gardens, etc.)

Arches National Park/Dead Horse Point

Our family was able to travel down to Southern Utah for a weekend and see all the fantastic sites. We visited Arches National Park where I was able to stand inside the iconic Utah landmark. We also traveled to Double Arch which was featured in one of the Indiana Jones movies. Just to let you know, there's no secret cave up inside. :)
We also traveled to Dead Horse Point State Park. We got to stand on the top and look over the 2000 foot drop to the bottom of the canyon. That place is like Utah's Grand Canyon. Amazing!

Believe

Over the past little while I've grown to love my religion. As I said proudly when I was a little tike, 'I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know who I am, I know God's plan, I'll follow him in faith. I believe in the Savior, Jesus Christ, I follow his name. I'll do what is right, I'll follow His light. His truth I will proclaim!' Though I took this picture at Christmas time, I think it applies to anytime, any where. Believe in yourself. Believe in God. Believe in life. "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God who giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not." James 1:5

Thanks for everyone who's been with me to the end. Though the end may not be near, I know you'll always be there for me. You're all amazing and don't you ever forget that. As one of my favorite cousins said, "I'll love you for eternity, forever and ever."

Old friends and new friends

Have you ever watched,
The sun set?
Have you ever watched,
As the plane left?
Have you ever watched,
As your best friend waved
Goodbye and so long?

As I was thinking today, I thought back on the friends I've lost contact with and the friends I've gained. It's been hard over the years as friends have moved and wards have been split. A nearby house and a church is what sometimes seems to hold friendships together. As these things disappear, the lasting love of friendship goes with it.

I'd like to talk mostly about the friends I've gained. These last couple years I've opened up. I'm a completely different person and I've made boat-loads of friends. Each one is special and each one means something different to me! I have friends that make me laugh, friends that make me smile, friends that help me learn, and friends that lift me up. I have friends that care about me, friends who don't care if I'm crazy, friends that listen to my problems, and friends that are just friends.

I would like to now thank all my friends, past, present and future, for the great impact you've had on me! Though I may not always tell you, but I love you all! And to the friend in WA, you are my friend and always will be! Even though we're separated by many states, I'll always be your friend!

THANK YOU FRIENDS FOR CHANGING MY LIFE!!
